Rahvusvahelised keemiaolümpiaadid[muuda]

Kuigi sisuliselt on tegemist sarnaste võistlustega, siis kindlasti tuleb kasuks harjutada just selle kindla olümpiaadi ülesandeid, kuhu on plaan minna.

Rahvusvaheline keemiaolümpiaad[muuda]

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual academic competition for school students. IChO promotes international contacts in chemistry and stimulates the activities of students found of chemistry by the way of independent and creative solution of chemical problems. Guided by 2 mentors, 4 students for each national team compete around July in one theoretical and one experimental round. Half of the participants are awarded medals. The preparation for the competition starts in January with the publication of the preparatory problems. During the olympiad students of different nationalities are separated from the mentors and spend time together with other students. The organizer encourage their cooperation and international understanding by providing activities.

Balti keemiaolümpiaad[muuda]

The Baltic Chemistry Olympiad or BChO is an annual academic competition for school students from the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), where students are to solve theoretical and practical problems from different branches of chemistry. The competition is similar to the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). The first BChO was held in 1993 in Riga and then subsequently in Tartu and Vilnius. In 2011, BChO was held in Vilnius and the next one will be held in 2012 in Riga. The event is usually being organized by the leading university of the hosting country.

20 students participate in every BChO – 6 from each country and 2 more come from the host country. Usually, there are 6 theoretical tasks (2 tasks are prepared by each country) worth 60 points and 2 practical tasks worth 40 points (prepared by the host country) for a grand total of 100 points. According to the results of the BChO each country chooses members of the national team to participate in International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). The jury includes representatives from each country.

Mendelejevi keemiaolümpiaad[muuda]

Mendelejevi keemiaolümpiaad (MKO) on keemia-alane võistlus, milles osalevad kooli õpilased rohkem kui 30 riigist. Suuruse ja tähtsuse järgi on see teine võistlus pärast Rahvusvahelist Keemiaolümpiaadi (RKO), milles osalevad õpilased rohkem kui 80 riigist. Mõlemad olümpiaadid toimuvad kord aastas maailma erinevates paikades, nende programm on kultuuririkas ning nendel on ühine eesmärk – hõlbustada suhteid eri rahvusest noorte täiskasvanute vahel. Erinevus on selles, et MKO-i formaat võimaldab suhlemist mitte ainult noorte, vaid ka nende mentorite ja korraldajate vahel. Võistluse pinge on MKO-l tunduvalt väiksem ning üldine atmosfäär soosib ning stimuleerib noorte arengut. Et paremini tunda MKO atmosfääri, tasub vaadata videot.

MKO koosneb kahest teooria- ja ühest eksperimentaalvoorust. Erinevalt RKOst, koostab ülesandeid iga aasta sama žürii, mille tõttu ülesannete kvaliteet on pidevalt kõrgel tasemel. Ülesanded on eriti rasked, kuid samas nad on üllatavalt innustavad. Väga oluline, et just MKO-l õpilased saavad kohe pärast võistlust arutleda ülesannete sisu nii kaaslastega, kui ka mentoritega ning apellatsiooni ajal (eriti sõbralikus atmosfääris) ka ülesannete autoritega. Seega MKO meenutab foorumi, milles kõik osalejad vahetavad oma mõtteid.
